CONGRATULATING HARRY FINDLEY OF ANDERSON COUNTY ON BEING AN INTEGRAL PART OF AN IMPORTANT UPCOMING MISSION TO RUSSIA, AND WISHING MR. FINDLEY AND HIS FELLOW PARTICIPANTS MUCH GOOD LUCK AND SUCCESS.
Whereas, Harry Findley of Anderson County is part of a ten-member United Methodist mission group scheduled to travel to Russia in June, 1995; the group will help renovate a Russian Orthodox church; then Mr. Findley will continue on by himself to meet with small-business persons from Orel, a city southwest of Moscow, where he will impart his outstanding business know-how to these fine Russian citizens; and
Whereas, Mr. Findley hopes to teach the Russians for-profit business and financial practices -- an area in which he has had great success; he earned a degree in business administration at the University of South Carolina; he continued learning about economic issues in the military and served as a financial adviser at the Pentagon; he later earned a master's degree in business administration at Harvard University through an Air Force-sponsored program; and
Whereas, the Anderson County Development Partnership, which was formed with Mr. Findley's help in 1992, brings together business, industry, government, and private citizens to plan strategy for the county's economic development; and
Whereas, the South Carolina United Methodist Conference, as well as other conferences, are working with the Orel Peace Foundation to arrange the upcoming two-week mission in which Mr. Findley will participate; and
Whereas, Harry Findley is a leading citizen of Anderson County and an outstanding South Carolinian, and his participation in this important mission will undoubtedly benefit the citizens of Russia, as well as the American participants. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Harry Findley of Anderson County on being an integral part of an important upcoming mission to Russia and wishes Mr. Findley and his fellow participants much good luck and success.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Findley.
