A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS OF MR. MINER WILLIAM CROSBY, JR., TO THE CHARLESTON AND NORTH CHARLESTON COMMUNITIES PRIOR TO HIS DEATH AND TO EXTEND TO HIS FAMILY THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE HOUSE AT HIS LOSS.

Whereas, Mr. Miner William Crosby, Jr., of Charleston died in March, 1994; and

Whereas, Miner Crosby served Charleston and North Charleston in a number of capacities and was a person that community leaders often turned to for advice and counsel; and

Whereas, he served on the Charleston County Council from 1962-70 and was appointed to the governing body of the North Charleston Public Service District in 1981. In 1982, he was elected chairman of the North Charleston Public Service District in which capacity he served with distinction until his death; and

Whereas, there has seldom been a person who did as much for his community and State as did Miner Crosby. He gave freely of his time and talents and his death has left a leadership void which has not been easily filled; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to honor his memory and express to his widow, children, and other members of his family their deep respect for this fine South Carolinian and their sincere regret at his loss. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, hereby recognize the many contributions of Mr. Miner William Crosby, Jr., to the Charleston and North Charleston communities prior to his death and extend to his family the deepest sympathy of the House at his loss.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Josie Crosby.
