TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-752 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A FAMILY MEMBER FROM BEING SUBJECT TO THE OFFICIAL RESPONSIBILITY OR SUPERVISION OR MANAGEMENT OF A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE, AND PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 8-13-752. (A) No public employee may be employed in a position for which a family member has official responsibility unless:
(1) otherwise provided by law; or
(2) approved by the State Ethics Commission.
(B) No public employee may be employed in a public position for which a family member has supervisory or management responsibility. No family member of a public employee may be employed in a public position which is subject to supervision or management by the same person to whom the public employee is subject to supervision or management."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
