A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND ARTHUR C. NORZ OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS LEADERSHIP IN IMPROVING THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE OF GREENVILLE COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Arthur Charles Norz was born on August 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York; and

Whereas, he received a business degree from Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1978; and

Whereas, Arthur Norz was employed with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1957 and operated the UNIVAC, Met Life's first computer and the first large-scale electronic data processing system to be used in the life insurance industry; and

Whereas, he assisted Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in establishing five information systems centers throughout the United States; and

Whereas, Arthur Norz became Vice President of the Metropolitan Life Information Systems Center in Greenville in 1981; and

Whereas, the success of the products and services that Met Life offers its customers is attributable substantially to the dedicated service of Mr. Norz in advancing the age of computer technology within the industry; and

Whereas, he has served on the Greenville Technical College Foundation Campaign Steering Committee and Advisory Board; and

Whereas, he also has served on the Governor's Committee on Infant Mortality, Literacy and Vocation Education, and on the Board of Directors of INROADS/Charlotte; and

Whereas, he served as Chairman of the United Negro College Fund Upstate Campaign and as Cabinet Chairman of the United Way of Greenville County; and

Whereas, Arthur Norz has served on the Southernside Community Center Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Development Committee of St. Anthony's Catholic Church; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to commend Arthur C. Norz for his leadership and outstanding community service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly commend Arthur C. Norz of Greenville County for his leadership in improving the lives of the people of Greenville County and the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Arthur Norz.
