A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE PANTHERS OF PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL ON WINNING THE SCISAA CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOYS BASKETBALL FOR 1996.

Whereas, the Panthers of Pinewood Preparatory School have captured the SCISAA (South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association) Class AAA state championship in boys basketball for 1996; and

Whereas, the Panthers of Pinewood Prep finished the season with an 11-1 conference record and were 27-2 overall; and

Whereas, the Panthers were the regular season conference champions and tournament champions, and they averaged 91.8 points per game and scored over one hundred points in ten games--spectacular accomplishments at the high school level of competition; and

Whereas, the 1995-96 edition of the Pinewood Prep boys basketball team included the following players: Petar Kokic and Scotty Scott, co-captains; Jeremy Grant, Chuck Eidson, Rodney Bridge, Milan Zivkovic, Jordan Holcomb, Ryan Fulkerson, Odie Engelman, and Al Davis; and

Whereas, Pat Eidson is the team's head coach, Tim Yohe is the assistant coach, and Gary Messersmith is the statistician; and

Whereas, Coach Eidson was named the SCISAA Region I, Class AAA "Coach of the Year" for 1996 and also coached the South team in the SCISAA Class AAA North-South All-Star Game; and

Whereas, the talent, dedication, diligence, and unity of the Panthers propelled the team to the state crown and many other successes during the 1995-96 season; and

Whereas, we are greatly pleased to have this opportunity to accord the Panthers of Pinewood Prep special recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Panthers of Pinewood Preparatory School on winning the SCISAA Class AAA state championship in boys basketball for 1996.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the team and its coaches and staff, in care of Head Coach Pat Eidson.
