A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE BULLDOGS OF HOLLY HILL-ROBERTS HIGH SCHOOL ON WINNING THE 1996 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOYS BASKETBALL.

Whereas, the Bulldogs of Holly Hill-Roberts High School have captured the 1996 Class AAA state title in boys basketball; and

Whereas, as Morris Wright, Times & Democrat sports writer, stated in his recent article:

"The final chapter of the Holly Hill-Roberts Bulldogs 1995-96 basketball season can be written.

The chapter should be entitled `Bulldogs bring home the gold.'"; and

Whereas, the Bulldogs defeated the J. L. Mann Patriots of Greenville 78-57 for the crown on Saturday night, March 9, 1996, at Carolina Coliseum in Columbia; and

Whereas, Holly Hill-Roberts finished the season with a superb 25-6 overall record, and the Bulldogs were guided by Head Coach Willie Thomas; and

Whereas, the talent, dedication, hard work, and unity of the Bulldogs basketball team during the 1995-96 season paid off handsomely, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to accord the team, the coaches, and the team staff special recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Bulldogs of Holly Hill-Roberts High School on winning the 1996 Class AAA state championship in boys basketball.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Bulldogs basketball team in care of Head Coach Willie Thomas.
