A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE BEST WISHES AND HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO OUR CURRENT MISS SOUTH CAROLINA, AMANDA ELIZABETH SPIVEY, OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY, ON THE SPECIAL OCCASION OF "MISS SOUTH CAROLINA APPRECIATION DAY", APRIL 30, 1996.

Whereas, Amanda Elizabeth Spivey of Boiling Springs in Spartanburg County is currently representing the State of South Carolina as our "Miss South Carolina"; and

Whereas, Miss Spivey is currently a student at the College of Charleston; and

Whereas, before having the title of "Miss South Carolina" conferred upon her, she also held the title of "Miss Spartanburg" and devoted countless hours and generosity to her volunteer cause of "DREAMS": D-determination; R-respect; E-effort; A-attitude; M-motivation; S-self-care, inspiring many to practice the very qualities that will cause them to rise to a higher degree of usefulness in today's culture; and

Whereas, as Miss South Carolina, Amanda speaks to elementary, middle, and high school children throughout the Palmetto State, imparting inspiration, wisdom, and determination; and

Whereas, our Miss South Carolina, Amanda Elizabeth Spivey, is a goodwill ambassador and role model of our State, and a representative of the State of South Carolina that is making a difference; and

Whereas, Amanda Elizabeth demonstrates the highest qualities of integrity, intelligence, poise, beauty, and involvement in her community and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their best wishes and hearty congratulations to Miss South Carolina, Amanda Elizabeth Spivey of Boiling Springs in Spartanburg County, on the special occasion of "Miss South Carolina Appreciation Day", April 30, 1996, and extend their very best wishes for her success in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Miss South Carolina, Amanda Elizabeth Spivey.
