A HOUSE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING THE SOUTH CAROLINA RESERVISTS WHO HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED FOR MILITARY SERVICE IN BOSNIA AND WISHING THEM GODSPEED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTY.

Whereas, numerous South Carolinians who are members of the United States Army and Air Force Reserves have been called up for active duty in Bosnia in an effort to end the years of bloodshed there and stabilize the country; and

Whereas, our own good friend and esteemed colleague, the Honorable Jim Harrison, has been activated for service in Bosnia; and

Whereas, the Reserve units from the Palmetto State serving in Bosnia include the 437th Airlift Wing from the Charleston Air Force Base, as well as others; and

Whereas, we are concerned for the well-being of the South Carolina reservists working to keep peace in Bosnia, and we pray that they will be protected and will return safely at the earliest possible time; and

Whereas, we recognize the sacrifice they are rendering, as well as the sacrifices of their families, and we salute our reservists for their courage, devotion to duty, and belief in the possibility of peace. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends the South Carolina reservists who have been activated for military service in Bosnia and wishes them Godspeed in the performance of their duty.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Stan Spears, Adjutant General of South Carolina.
