A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE DISTINGUISHED CAREER IN EDUCATION OF MRS. JEAN RIVERS WESTBROOK OF WEST COLUMBIA IN LEXINGTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AND WISHING FOR HER HEALTH AND HAPPINESS HER IN WELL-EARNED RETIREMENT.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives note that Mrs. Jean Rivers Westbrook of West Columbia in Lexington County is bringing to a close her career in public education, the last ten years of which have been as principal at Saluda River Elementary School in Lexington County, School District Two, as she enters into a well-earned retirement this summer; and

Whereas, Mrs. Westbrook, a Winthrop College graduate, is a champion in the career of high quality public education, having earned the respect and loyalty of her fellow school administrators, teachers, students, and the community at large; and

Whereas, her hard work, perseverance, and splendid example have raised a benchmark worthy of emulation for all those involved in the high calling of education; and

Whereas, she has admirably balanced career and family, as will be attested by her husband, Grier Westbrook, and her daughters, Windsor W. Sherrill and Susan W. Jackson, and has with her family been a mainstay of Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so that they may honor the contributions and career of so distinguished a public educator. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives express their appreciation for the distinguished career in education of Mrs. Jean Rivers Westbrook of West Columbia in Lexington County on the occasion of her retirement and wish for her health and happiness in her well-earned retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Westbrook.
