EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL ON RECEIVING RENEWAL ACCREDITATION ON ITS PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM BY THE COMMUNITY HEALTH ACCREDITATION PROGRAM, INC.
Whereas, the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc., a nationally recognized leader in improving the quality of care in the home care industry in the United States, has granted continued accreditation to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's public health programs with a special commendation as an agency truly committed to quality; and
Whereas, the CHAP review of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control recognized the agency's highly developed corporate structure which maintains a caring and innovative approach to health care delivery as a model to the nation; and
Whereas, the CHAP accreditation with special commendation cited the department as a strong, unified organization with the ability to respond to the challenges of new directions in health care delivery; and
Whereas, the CHAP review found that the department maintains strong epidemiological and biostatistical approaches to identify health status and community priorities; and
Whereas, the CHAP Board of Review found the department has demonstrated a history of excellence in policy development for public health programs; and
Whereas, CHAP has acknowledged the major contributions of the department to the revising of Public Health Standards of Excellence nationally; and
Whereas, the CHAP review cited a highly skilled and experienced administration and staff of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control committed to customer service, quality assurance, cost effectiveness, and accountability to the citizens of this State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the employees, managers, and officers of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for the department's renewed accreditation for its public health programs by the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc., and especially for the commendation from that organization for the department's commitment to quality.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Commissioner Douglas E. Bryant so that he may share these sentiments with his employees, managers, and board members.
