A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF DR. GREG BAIRD OF ANDERSON COUNTY WHO DIED ON JUNE 10, 1996.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Greg Baird of Anderson on Monday, June 10, 1996; and

Whereas, Dr. Baird, ending a long battle with cancer, was a physician and friend to many of the citizens of Anderson County; and

Whereas, although leading the Iva Medical Center until illness forced his retirement in 1992, Dr. Baird treated his patients with such kindness and interest that all with whom he has come in contact will remember him; and

Whereas, often sicker than many of the people he treated, he never complained about the illness which was gradually taking his life; and

Whereas, the spiritual strength that he demonstrated was a constant inspiration to those around him; and

Whereas, when Dr. Baird's patients didn't have money to pay for his medical services he accepted their vegetables, homemade pies, and cakes willingly; and

Whereas, as a compassionate, gentle man who loved people he will always be remembered for the truly warm and human "bedside manner" that he practiced every day; and

Whereas, Anderson County has truly lost a friend who will not be forgotten and whose role in the community will not easily be filled. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, extend sympathy to the family and many friends of Dr. Greg Baird of Anderson County who died on June 10, 1996.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Greg (Carolyn) Baird.
