A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF ANDERSON POLICE CHIEF JAMES E. BURRISS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AND WISHING FOR HIM MANY HAPPY AND FULFILLING YEARS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly note that Anderson Police Chief James E. Burriss will be retiring on June 30, 1995, after forty-one years with the Anderson City Police Department; and

Whereas, Chief Burriss, who has held that position since 1982, has set an example of outstanding police work going back to the beginning of his career with the department; and

Whereas, Chief Burriss was recognized in 1993 for forty-four years of loyal dedication and service to the city of Anderson; and

Whereas, Chief Burriss is an active member of Orrville Baptist Church and is currently the Sunday School Office Director. He is also an ordained deacon; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize the splendid service to the field of law enforcement of a distinguished son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express their appreciation for the distinguished service of Anderson Police Chief James E. Burriss on the occasion of his retirement and wish for him many happy and fulfilling years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Police Chief James E. Burriss.
