-- Credit Union Act of 1996. Effective May 29, 1996. Any credit union
incorporated or formed before the effective date of this act, as provided by law, shall
be considered as a valid and lawfully organized credit union but hereafter must comply
with the provisions of Chapter 26 of Title 34 as added herein.
-- Juvenile Justice Code. Effective July 1, 1996, and the provisions of Section
20-7-7810(E) and (F), as amended by Section 1 of this act apply to crimes committed
on or after January 1, 1996.
-- Delinquent debt to hospitals. Effective June 4, 1996, and applies with
respect to applicable offsets on and after that date regardless of the taxable year for
which the refund is issued.
-- Severance of joint tenancy upon death of joint tenant. Effective May 29,
1996, and applies to joint tenancies created either prior to or after the effective date
of the act.
-- Voter registration age qualifications. Effective June 4, 1996. This act takes
effect on the ratification of the amendment to Section 4, Article II of the Constitution
of this State to change the age qualification to vote.
-- Georgetown County, Register of Mense Conveyances. Effective June 6,
1996, however, the term of office of the Register of Mesne Conveyances for
Georgetown County shall begin July 1, 1996.
