Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Thomas E. Huff was duly elected to the Court of Appeals, Seat No. 8, for the term prescribed by law.

Election to the Court of Appeals, Seat No. 9

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order to elect a successor to the Court of Appeals, Seat No. 9.

Senator McCONNELL, Chairman of the Judicial Screening Committee, stated that the Honorable Ralph King Anderson, Jr., Mr. Ruben L. Gray, the Honorable Douglas L. Hinds, the Honorable Wallace K. Lightsey, Mr. Joseph D. Shine, and the Honorable Charles B. Simmons, Jr. had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Senator McCONNELL, the names of Mr. Douglas L. Hinds, Mr. Ruben L. Gray, and Mr. Joseph D. Shine were withdrawn from consideration.

Senator McCONNELL placed the names of the Honorable Ralph King Anderson, Jr., the Honorable Wallace K. Lightsey, and the Honorable Charles B. Simmons, Jr. in nomination.

Election to the Position of Judge, Third Judicial Circuit

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order to elect a successor to the position of Judge, Third Judicial Circuit.

Senator McCONNELL, Chairman of the Judicial Screening Committee, indicated that the Honorable Howard P. King had been screened and found qualified to serve.

Senator McCONNELL placed the name of the Honorable Howard P. King in nomination.

Senator McCONNELL moved that the nominations be closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Howard P. King was duly elected to the position of Judge, Third Judicial Circuit, for the term prescribed by law.

Election to the Position of Judge, Circuit Court,

At-Large, Seat #11

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order to elect a successor to the Circuit Court, At-Large Position, Seat #11.

Senator McCONNELL, Chairman of the Judicial Screening Committee, stated that Mr. Thomas C. Cofield, Mr. John W. Kittredge, Ms. Selma T. Jones, Ms. Brenda Reddix-Smalls, Mr. Wyatt Saunders, and Mr. James C. Williams, Jr. had been screened and found qualified.
