17     TO AMEND SECTION 1-7-150 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO THE ACCOUNTING OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
18     TO THE STATE TREASURER, SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT ALL MONIES, EXCEPT CERTAIN COSTS AND MONIES
19     DEPOSITED IN THE MITIGATION TRUST FUND FOR LOSSES OR DAMAGES TO NATURAL RESOURCES, AWARDED
20     TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA BY JUDGMENT OR SETTLEMENT IN ACTIONS OR CLAIMS BROUGHT BY THE
21     ATTORNEY GENERAL ON BEHALF OF THE STATE OR ONE OF ITS AGENCIES OR DEPARTMENTS MUST BE
22     DEPOSITED IN THE GENERAL FUND OF THE STATE.

24     A.  Section 1-7-150 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

26           "Section 1-7-150.     (A)  The Attorney General shall account to the State Treasurer for all fees, bills of costs, and moneys monies received
27     by him by virtue of his office.
28           (B)  All monies, except investigative costs or costs of litigation awarded by court order or settlement, awarded the State of South Carolina
29     by judgment or settlement in actions or claims brought by the Attorney General on behalf of the State or one of its agencies or departments must
30     be deposited in the general fund of the State, except for monies recovered for losses or damages to natural resources, which must be deposited
31     in the Mitigation Trust Fund, or where some other disposition is required by law."

33     B.   This section takes effect July 1, 1998.
