A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 16-3-15 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PARENT WHOSE CHILD DIES AS A RESULT OF THE PARENT'S NEGLECT OF THE CHILD FROM THE PARENT PLAYING VIDEO POKER IS GUILTY OF MURDER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 16-3-15. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a parent whose child dies as a result of the parent's neglect of the child from the parent playing video poker is guilty of murder and must be punished pursuant to the provisions contained in Section 16-3-20."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
