TO CONGRATULATE MR. JIM MILLS ON HIS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL BAND DIRECTOR AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, for the past twenty-five years Mr. Jim Mills has served as director of the Chapin High School Eagles Band; and
Whereas, during this period of dedicated service, the number of students participating in the band program increased from twenty to nearly four hundred fifty; and
Whereas, two years after he arrived at Chapin High School, the band placed third in the state high school band competition; and
Whereas, under Mr. Mills direction, the Eagles Band won state titles in 1975 and 1985, performed in London, England, on two occasions, and won an international competition in Toronto, Canada; and
Whereas, throughout his tenure as band director, Mr. Mills exhibited the wonderful gift of challenging his students to strive for excellence; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate Mr. Jim Mills for the many years of outstanding leadership he provided as Chapin High School Band Director. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate congratulate Mr. Jim Mills for his exemplary twenty-five year career as Chapin High School Band Director and wish him well in all his future endeavors..
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jim Mills.
