A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE D. LESLIE TINDAL, STATE COMMISSIONER OF AGRICULTURE, ON BEING CHOSEN PRESIDENT-ELECT OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE DEPARTMENTS OF AGRICULTURE (NASDA).

Whereas, South Carolina's distinguished Commissioner of Agriculture, the Honorable D. Leslie Tindal, has been chosen President-Elect of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA); and

Whereas, NASDA's members are the executive heads (commissioners, secretaries, and directors) of the departments of agriculture in the fifty states and four territories; NASDA periodically enters into agreements with state and federal agencies to serve the interests of American agriculture; the association is organized in four geographic regions and has six general policy committees and two special task forces which review policy questions and make recommendations to the membership; and

Whereas, Les Tindal's election to the office of president-elect of NASDA is a distinct honor not only for himself but for all of the people of South Carolina whom he has served so well over the years; following his tenure as president-elect, he will automatically assume the office of president of the association, where his ability and vision will continue to be felt across the United States; and

Whereas, we are pleased to have this opportunity to accord special recognition to one of our outstanding statewide public servants on such an important occurrence. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Honorable D. Leslie Tindal, State Commissioner of Agriculture, on being chosen President-Elect of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA).

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Commissioner Tindal.
