A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROPRIATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996-97 SIX MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FROM CERTAIN 1996-97 GENERAL FUND REVENUES TO FUND THE BASE STUDENT COST FIGURE IN THE EDUCATION FINANCE ACT FORMULA ADJUSTED TO REFLECT THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EDUCATION FINANCE ACT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. For fiscal year 1996-97 and from recurring 1996-97 general fund revenues certified by the Board of Economic Advisors in excess of revenues established and appropriated in Act 458 of 1996, there is hereby appropriated six million seven hundred thousand dollars to the Department of Education to fund the base student cost figure in the Education Finance Act formula adjusted to reflect the actual number of students reported in the one hundred thirty-five day weighted pupil count. The Comptroller General is authorized to increase the recurring appropriation for the Education Finance Act by six million seven hundred thousand dollars above the amount appropriated in Part 1A of Act 458 of 1996.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
