TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO DESIGNATE AND NAME SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 8 IN WARE PLACE, SOUTH CAROLINA, AS "WILLIAM CAMPBELL HIGHWAY" IN HONOR OF WILLIAM CAMPBELL AND TO ERECT THE APPROPRIATE SIGNS OR MARKERS.
Whereas, William Campbell has been a dedicated and selfless public servant in Greenville County; and
Whereas, Mr. Campbell served Greenville County as a magistrate and as a traffic control specialist, in addition to his operating for many years the landmark William Campbell's Grocery and Garage in Ware Place; and
Whereas, his community service also included his membership in Washington Baptist Church, Pelzer Masonic Lodge No. 217, Pelzer Order of the Eastern Star No. 84, and membership on the Greenville Water Systems Committee; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly believe it is fitting and proper that the work and service to which William Campbell dedicated his life be recognized by naming South Carolina Highway 8 in Ware Place, South Carolina, as "William Campbell Highway". Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, request the Department of Transportation to designate and name South Carolina Highway 8 in Ware Place, South Carolina, as "William Campbell Highway" in honor of William Campbell and to erect the appropriate signs or markers.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and Mr. Campbell.
