A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MRS. BARBARA LANGER PEARLSTINE OF CHARLESTON UPON HER DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Barbara Langer Pearlstine of Charleston on Sunday, March 16, 1997; and

Whereas, Mrs. Pearlstine was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, attended Tulane University, and was married to Edwin S. Pearlstine, Jr., president of Pearlstine Distributors, Inc.; and

Whereas, Mrs. Pearlstine was widely known and admired throughout Charleston for her many civic and community endeavors. One example of her generosity was the gift of the Pearlstine House, a late Victorian home on Calhoun Street, which Mr. and Mrs. Pearlstine donated to the South Carolina Division of the American Cancer Society for cancer patients undergoing treatment at local hospitals; and

Whereas, very few people have given of their time and talents as freely as did this lovely lady, and she will be sorely missed as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to the Pearlstine family in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Barbara Langer Pearlstine of Charleston upon her death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her husband, Mr. Edwin S. Pearlstine, Jr.
