A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-2-270, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT LICENSURE RENEWAL, SO AS TO GRANT AN EXTENSION TO A PERSON WHO IS OUT OF THE UNITED STATES AND PUERTO RICO ON THE DATE THE LICENSE IS DUE TO BE RENEWED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-2-270 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 453 of 1996, is amended by adding at the end:

"Additionally, when a person is outside the United States and Puerto Rico on the date the license is due to be renewed, the person has until the fifteenth day of the sixth month after the license renewal date. A person relying on this extension shall attach a statement to the renewal form which states why the person qualified for this extension."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
