TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-63-455 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE RACIAL COMPOSITION OF THE ENROLLMENT OF ANY SPECIALIZED SCHOOLS ESTABLISHED BY A SCHOOL DISTRICT, INCLUDING ACADEMIC MAGNET, MILITARY MAGNET, MONTESSORI, PROGRESSIVE, AND AUTONOMOUS SCHOOLS, MAY NOT DIFFER FROM THE RACIAL COMPOSITION OF THE ENROLLMENT OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AS A WHOLE BY MORE THAN TEN PERCENT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-63-455. The racial composition of the enrollment of any specialized schools established by a school district, including academic magnet, military magnet, montessori, progressive, and autonomous schools, may not differ from the racial composition of the enrollment of the school district as a whole by more than ten percent."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
