A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-1-70 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY SHALL MEET IN STATEWIDE SESSION ON WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, AND FRIDAY AND TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 2-1-70. The General Assembly shall meet on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week in statewide session beginning in January of each year unless for special purposes either or both bodies agree otherwise, except that the annual convening of the General Assembly shall be the second Tuesday in January, and the last day of the regular session may not be later than the first Thursday in June, as provided by law as provided by law."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
