TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF FLORENCE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE TO LEVY A TAX OF 95.1 MILLS TO PROVIDE FOR LOCAL FUNDING OF THE OPERATING BUDGET OF THIS DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Act 239 of 1981, the Board of Trustees of Florence Public School District One may adopt an operating budget for fiscal year 1997-1998 which requires local funding from a millage of 95.1 mills. Any millage increase beyond this level for subsequent years requires the approval by a majority of the voters participating in a special election in the manner provided for in Act 239 of 1981. Upon the adoption of a budget within this authorization level, the district shall notify the county treasurer who shall collect the taxes levied pursuant to this section and disburse the funds to the school district.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
