A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO ARNOLD S. GOODSTEIN II OF DORCHESTER COUNTY ON WINNING THE STATE PTO OVERALL REFLECTIONS LITERATURE COMPETITION SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION AND TO WISH HIM WELL AS HE CONTINUES TO DISTINGUISH HIMSELF IN HIS SCHOOL WORK AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have this opportunity to recognize Arnold S. Goodstein II, an outstanding seventh grade student at Alston Middle School in Summerville, on winning the State PTO Overall Reflections Literature Competition sponsored by the National Parent Teacher Organization; and

Whereas, Arnold competed against students of all ages and was selected as the overall winner with a poem he wrote entitled It Could Happen; and

Whereas, he is the son of former Senator Arnold S. Goodstein, our dear friend and distinguished former colleague in the General Assembly; and

Whereas, Arnold is an excellent student having made only one B in all his years in school; and

Whereas, this young man exemplifies the type of student teachers are proud to have in their classrooms -- energetic, dependable, and dedicated; and

Whereas, we know that his father and mother are very, very proud of him, as are his classmates, his teachers, and, indeed, all South Carolinians, and we are pleased to have this opportunity to accord him the special recognition which he has so greatly merited. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina express sincere congratulations to Arnold S. Goodstein II of Dorchester County on winning the State PTO Overall Reflections Literature Competition sponsored by the National Parent Teacher Organization and wish him well as he continues to distinguish himself in his school work and extracurricular activities.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Arnold S. Goodstein II.
