A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-24-15 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS EMPLOYED ON AN ANNUAL OR MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT, SHALL RETAIN THEIR CONTRACT STATUS AS A TEACHER BUT SHALL NOT BE GRANTED CONTRACT OR STATUS AS AN ADMINISTRATOR, AND TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-24-15. School administrators employed on an annual or multi-year contract shall retain their contract status as a teacher but shall not be granted a contract status as an administrator. Any such administrator who presently is under contract with a contract status as an administrator shall retain that status until the expiration of that contract. Any teacher covered by this section is subject to employment dismissal provisions of Article 3, Chapter 19 and Article 5, Chapter 25."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
