A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE BENEDICT COLLEGE "TIGERS" MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH WILLIE WASHINGTON FOR WINNING THE EASTERN INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE TITLE FOR THE NINTH STRAIGHT YEAR.

Whereas, the Benedict College Men's "Tigers" Basketball Team had another truly outstanding season winning the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Title for the ninth straight year; and

Whereas, winning the conference title earned the Tigers a bid to the NAIA Division I National Tournament for the second year in a row; and

Whereas, the Tigers defeated fifteen of their last eighteen opponents this season finishing with a 22-9 record; and

Whereas, the Tigers are coached by Willie Washington who captured his 200th victory since coming to Benedict College ten years ago, making him second in overall wins; and

Whereas, Coach Washington was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the seventh time; and

Whereas, the Tigers and their coaches are to be commended for a stellar season and an exceptional long-standing conference record and for the commitment, dedication, and hard work they all contribute. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Benedict College "Tigers" Men's Basketball Team and their coach, Willie Washington, for winning the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Title for the ninth straight year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Washington.
