CONGRATULATING HAROLD E. MCCARTY OF HONEA PATH ON RECEIVING THE PIEDMONT TECHNICAL COLLEGE ASSOCIATION'S 1998 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives note that Mr. Harold E. McCarty of Honea Path has been awarded the 1998 Distinguished Alumni Award by the Piedmont Technical College Association--the association's highest honor; and
Whereas, this award honors Piedmont Technical College graduates whom the selection committee judge to have performed distinguished service to the association, the college, the community, and one's profession; and
Whereas, the 1998 honoree, Mr. Harold E. McCarty is a worthy recipient of this high honor, a 1970 graduate of the college earning an associate degree in industrial engineering technology, who in his career has risen to plant manager with Regal Textile Corporation and most recently since joining M. Lowenstein Corporation, now Chiquola Industrial Products, as general manager of two plants in the Honea Path area employing more than four hundred associates; and
Whereas, he exemplifies in his management career a commitment to personal growth and honing of professional skills by his participation in the unique "Crossties" program for the grooming of top executives and as a member of the South Carolina Managers Alliance; and
Whereas, his community involvement includes membership on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America Blue Ridge Council, the Tri-County Technical College Advisory Committee, the Honea Path Civitan Club, the Greenwood Lions Club, the South Carolina Lung Association, and numerous other activities of benefit to the community; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so that they might add their voices to those congratulating Mr. McCarty on this signal honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, hereby congratulate Harold E. McCarty of Honea Path on receiving the Piedmont Technical College Association's 1998 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Harold E. McCarty.
