A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING AND THANKING GWENDOLYN DAVIS KENNEDY OF COLUMBIA FOR HER OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF RICHLAND COUNTY COUNCIL FROM 1993 TO 1997.

Whereas, Gwendolyn Davis Kennedy of Columbia represented the citizens of District 7 on Richland County Council from January 1993 through 1997; and

Whereas, Ms. Kennedy was an outstanding local government representative and leader during her county council tenure; and

Whereas, her professional career has been in education, both as teacher and administrator, and she has always sought excellence in this endeavor; she has just retired from Richland Northeast High School in Richland District Two as assistant principal; and

Whereas, she has been a member of many organizations and associations over the years and is a co-founder of the James R. Clark Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation; and

Whereas, Gwendolyn Kennedy's career has been marked by dedication, hard work, and service; she is respected and admired by all who know her; her contributions to her community and to her fellow human beings have made her a model public servant, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to recognize her in this special manner. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends and thanks Gwendolyn Davis Kennedy of Columbia for her outstanding public service as a member of Richland County Council from 1993 to 1997.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Kennedy.
