TO COMMEND THE HONORABLE WILLIAM A. (BILLY) REEL, MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF EDGEFIELD, FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED CAREER OF PUBLIC SERVICE UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS MAYOR.

Whereas, the members of the Senate have learned with deep regret that the Honorable William A. (Billy) Reel, Mayor of the Town of Edgefield, is retiring from this office due to reasons of health; and

Whereas, Billy Reel has devoted a half-century to serving the people of Edgefield and the State of South Carolina. In addition to his service as Mayor, he served with distinction as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate for many years; and

Whereas, he brought to his public duties a sense of fiscal integrity and ability learned as a successful insurance businessman, and throughout his career earned not only the friendship but the respect of the citizens of the Town and County of Edgefield; and

Whereas, South Carolina has been blessed over the years with many capable public officials and Billy Reel exemplifies this type of person who has given freely of his time and talents to his community, State, and nation; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like publicly to recognize and thank this truly outstanding South Carolinian for his service to the Town and County of Edgefield and the State of South Carolina upon the occasion of his retirement as mayor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate hereby commend the Honorable William A. (Billy) Reel on his distinguished career of public service upon his retirement as Mayor of the Town of Edgefield.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable William A. (Billy) Reel .
