The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

As we approach the 2nd day of this Organizational Session, we come with the same feeling of need which possessed us yesterday. We pray, then, because we need; we pray because we believe that You are our sure and certain help. Cause us to see every yesterday as an experience, to behold every tomorrow as a challenge of hope. Inspire us to do our best always, making the best of each moment, knowing that while all of us make mistakes but only the foolish practice them and that blaming our mistakes on others does not change the nature of our shortcomings.
So, we place our hands in Yours, Lord, saying in confidence: "Where You lead, I will follow." Amen.

Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
