The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Our hearts rejoice, Father God, for this new day which You have given to us. We thank You for the privilege of working together for the welfare of Your people. Prosper us in our planning, encourage us in our worthwhile endeavors, and strengthen us as we step forward on behalf of our great State. Let not any pettiness, any prejudice, or any pride get in the way of noble accomplishments. Help us to pursue the upward way. Help us to obey Your Commandments as we walk in Your way.
Be, Lord, our source of blessings, as You have always been. Amen.
