The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Our Heavenly Father, Who with this new day we bow again at this altar of prayer to offer praise and thanksgiving, help us to proceed through this day with earnest purpose, fortified by faith, heartened by hope. Give us a firmness for the right and determination to do Your will. Prepare our abilities for the tasks before us, our spirits for willing sacrifices, and our minds for duties demanded to match our times. May Your wisdom make us wise, Your strength keep us strong, and Your love fill us with an abounding good will.
We make our prayer in the words of the Psalmist: "In You do I put my trust." (Psalm 16:1) Amen.
