A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MISS JULIA MARGARET WALL OF NORTH AUGUSTA AND EXTENDING THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to learn of the passing of a truly gracious, Southern lady, Miss Julia Margaret Wall of North Augusta, on Thursday, December 30, 1999; and

Whereas, Miss Wall was born in Aiken County and was a graduate of Lucy Cobb College near Atlanta where she earned her teaching certificate; and

Whereas, she was a woman of many talents, a teacher, musician, artist, gardener, and historian; and

Whereas, Miss Wall was the beloved school teacher and piano teacher to countless children in North Augusta; and

Whereas, she shared her time, talents, and leadership among many deserving community projects and organizations; and

Whereas, she was a charter member of the Jessamine

Garden Club which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary; and

Whereas, Miss Wall was a founding member of the North Augusta Historical Society and a valuable voice of local history; and

Whereas, she demonstrated her genteel but effective abilities as a leader in helping to form St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, the first Episcopal church in North Augusta; and

Whereas, she was a faithful member at "St. Bart's" where she was a member of the choir and briefly served as a secretary; and

Whereas, Miss Wall was a beloved aunt to her niece Mary Wall Kelly and nephews B. Charles Wall and William Stewart Wall; and

Whereas, Julia Margaret Wall was a devoted teacher, an outstanding member of her church and the community, and a truly Southern lady, loved and admired by all who knew her; and she will be greatly missed by the people of North Augusta and the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That by this resolution the members of the South Carolina Senate express their sorrow upon learning of the death of Miss Julia Margaret Wall of North Augusta and extend their deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mary Wall Kelly, B. Charles Wall, and William Stewart Wall in care of Mary Wall Kelly of North Augusta.
