A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE SENATOR HARVEY SMITH PEELER, JR. OF CHEROKEE COUNTY FOR TWENTY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Senator Peeler has ably represented the people of Cherokee, York and Union counties in the Senate for 20 years, rising to the rank of eleventh in seniority; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler was born September 8, 1948, the son of H. Smith Peeler and Sally Bratton Peeler; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler is married to the former Donna Caudill and they are the parents of three children, Brantlee, Smith and Boone; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler graduated from Clemson University in 1970 and served as a lieutenant in the United States Army; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler is a businessman and dairyman, an active member of Gaffney First Baptist Church and a member of the Masons and Shriners; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler has served in numerous leadership roles in the Senate, chairing the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee and serving on the Senate's Finance Committee, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, the Senate Ethics Committee, the Senate Medical Affairs Committee, the Senate Education Committee, and the Appropriation Bill Conference Committees; and

Whereas, Senator Peeler has been honored by the South Carolina Business and Industry Political Education Committee, the South Carolina School Boards Association, the South Carolina Poultry Federation, and the South Carolina Rural Water Association. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate congratulate Senator Harvey Smith Peeler, Jr. for his 20 years of service to the Senate and the people of South Carolina and wish him continued success.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Harvey Smith Peeler, Jr.
