RECOGNIZING THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF LORIS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF HORRY COUNTY, COMMENDING THE HOSPITAL FOR ITS OUTSTANDING, DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR FIVE DECADES, AND RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE SEVEN ORIGINAL PRINCIPALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ORIGINATION OF THE HOSPITAL.
Whereas, Loris Community Hospital of Horry County is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year of service to the community; and
Whereas, the hospital has provided outstanding, dedicated service to the good people of Horry County for five decades; and
Whereas, there were seven original principals responsible for the origination of Loris Community Hospital; the names include the five original members of the hospital's Board of Commissioners and two members of the Civitan Club who played a vital role in the establishment of the hospital; five of these seven key individuals are the following:
(1) Mr. E. W. Prince, Sr., who served on the hospital's Board of Commissioners from 1946 to 1951;
(2) Mr. C. A. Lupo, Sr., who served on the hospital's Board of Commissioners from 1946 to 1956;
(3) Mr. S. F. Horton, who served on the hospital's Board of Commissioners from 1946 to 1974;
(4) Mr. L. M. Vaught, who served on the hospital's Board of Commissioners from 1946 to 1978; and
(5) Mr. E. E. Prince, who served on the hospital's Board of Commissioners from 1946 to 1984; and
Whereas, the Civitan Club was also instrumental in the origination of the hospital; a three-man team was responsible for the necessary research for the development of Loris Community Hospital; in addition to Board Commissioner E. E. Prince named hereinabove, two Civitan Club members made up this key team; they are the following:
(1) Mr. D. O. Heniford; and
(2) Mr. Sam Hickman; and
Whereas, Loris Community Hospital has meant much to the health care of Horry County residents and others for many years; the quality of service of the hospital has been excellent, and the services of the seven original principals have been superb; we are, indeed, very pleased to be able to accord the hospital and these fine individuals recognition in this special manner at this time. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes the fiftieth anniversary of Loris Community Hospital of Horry County, commends the hospital for its outstanding, dedicated service to the community for five decades, and recognizes and salutes the contributions of the seven original principals responsible for the origination of the hospital.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners and Administration of Loris Healthcare System, 3655 Mitchell Street, Loris, South Carolina, 29569.
