A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MONCKS CORNER NATIVE BILL BONDS ON HIS SELECTION AS NATIONAL FOOTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR AND RECOGNIZING HIS UNFAILING DEVOTION TO HIS SCHOOL, STUDENTS AND FAMILY.

Whereas, Bill Bonds, Jr. has received the coveted title of National Coach of the Year from Channel One Educational Television which broadcasts daily news programs to 12,000 schools and 8 million students nationwide; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds is the son of Mrs. Buddy Bonds and the late Bill Bonds, Sr., was raised in St. Stephen and Moncks Corner, and is a 1977 graduate of Berkley County High School; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds is a Lander College graduate and began his coaching career at Goose Creek High School in 1981; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds now resides in Wrightsville, Georgia, where he is Johnson County High School's head football coach; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds is a loving and committed husband to his wife Lori, and devoted father to their three-year-old triplets Barrett, Brice and Aubrey; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds is beloved and admired by friends, family, faculty and students who describe him as an inspiring mentor, teacher, and role model to his students and players; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds has led his teams to many victories, helped the students of Johnson County High School to grow both mentally and physically strong, and inspired them to live life to the fullest; and

Whereas, Coach Bonds has been battling a rare form of cancer for the past year, undergoing surgery and numerous radiation treatments, but has never missed a football practice and only one football game and, despite his adversity, continues to instill in his friends, students and coworkers an undeniably resilient fighting spirit. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Coach Bill Bonds on being named Coach of the Year, and recognizing his unfailing devotion to his school, students and family, and for the fighting spirit that he inspires.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Bill Bonds.
