A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-6-172 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A DISTRICT COMMANDER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL DIVISION MUST MAINTAIN HIS PRIMARY RESIDENCE WITHIN THE DISTRICT IN WHICH HE IS ASSIGNED AND MUST BE ON-CALL TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 23-6-172. A District Commander of the South Carolina Highway Patrol Division must maintain his primary residence within the district in which he is assigned and must be on-call twenty-four hours, seven days a week."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
