A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE LIONS OF DANIEL HIGH SCHOOL IN CENTRAL, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON WINNING THE 1998 CLASS AAA STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have an opportunity to recognize the Daniel High School "Lions" football team in Central on their successful 1998 season; and

Whereas, their magnificent season culminated when the "Lions" defeated Manning High School by a score of 34-27 last December at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia and captured the 1998 Class AAA state football championship; and

Whereas, this remarkable team had a record of thirteen wins and two losses in 1998, and they were the Region 1 Class AAA champions with an undefeated record in their region of 7-0; and

Whereas, the excellent coaching of Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, Allen Sitterle, along with the able assistant coaches, trainer, and student trainers, clearly paid significant dividends for the "Lions" by their winning this significant and prestigious championship; and

Whereas, Coach Sitterle has an exceptional record at Daniel High School; he has coached at Daniel since 1990 and, in that period, his win-loss record is 107 wins and 18 losses, and his teams have garnered seven region championships, five upper state championships and four state championships in 1991, 1992, 1995, and 1998; and

Whereas, the coach has a knack for motivating his teams to do their best for him; in his twenty-year career as a football coach, he has a stellar record of 201 wins and 53 losses; and

Whereas, the countless hours of practice, hard work, and sacrifices certainly reflect the "Lions" determination to be the best that they could be; and

Whereas, the success of the 1998 Daniel High School Football Team has brought great pride and recognition not only upon Pickens County, but also to the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to publicly recognize and congratulate each player, each coach, and staff member upon the conclusion of a truly memorable season. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring,

That the members of the General Assembly express their hearty congratulations to the "Lions" of Daniel High School in Central, South Carolina, on winning the 1998 Class AAA state football championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Allan Sitterle and Principal Earl Gilstrap of Daniel High School, Central, South Carolina.
