A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE MULLINS HIGH SCHOOL LADY "AUCTIONEERS" BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 1998-99 CLASS AA GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Mullins High School Lady "Auctioneers" of Marion County recently won the 1998-99 Class AA Girls State Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, the Lady Auctioneers clinched their second Class AA title of the 1990's by defeating Bishopville 50-44; and

Whereas, the extraordinary Lady Auctioneers ended almost a year of frustration with a 64-45 victory over Columbia High in the Class AA Girls Basketball Lower State Final. The Lady Auctioneers, who had lost three straight games to Columbia High's Lady Capitals, avenged a 47-41 loss in December and a 73-31 humiliation in January. This win propelled Mullins, with a 21-5 record, into a showdown with Bishopville for the Class AA State Championship; and

Whereas, this impressive level of competition could not have been accomplished without the leadership and guidance of legendary Head Coach Fred Senter, who is in his thirty-seventh year at Mullins High. Coach Senter is well-known in basketball circles as a teacher of the art of basketball; and

Whereas, the countless hours of practice, hard work, and sacrifices certainly reflect this superb basketball team's determination; and

Whereas, the students, parents, and school administration of Mullins High School have provided the support and encouragement necessary to achieve this highest level of consistency in girls basketball; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly commend these fine young ladies and especially Head Coach Fred Senter, along with his assistant coaches, on their team spirit, enthusiasm, and their extraordinary achievements. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Mullins High School Lady "Auctioneers" Basketball Team and their coaches for an exceptional season and on capturing the 1998-1999 Class AA Girls State Basketball Championship and wish them continued success in the future.
