TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 6-8-80 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, LICENSING AND REGULATION, IN COOPERATION WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA BUILDING CODES COUNCIL, TO ESTABLISH A CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR THE TRAINING OF BUILDING CODES ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 6-8-80. The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, in cooperation with the South Carolina Building Codes Council, shall establish a certification program, including specialty and general certification, for the training of building codes enforcement officers. The department shall promulgate regulations to carry out the requirements of this section."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
