To whom was referred a House Resolution (H. 4145), to request the Director of the Department of Public Safety to study and make recommendations to the House of Representatives on methods to eliminate the forty-five day grace period, etc., respectfully

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO STUDY AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON METHODS TO ELIMINATE THE FORTY-FIVE DAY GRACE PERIOD IN WHICH PERSONS WHO NEWLY ACQUIRE MOTOR VEHICLES AND OWNERS OF FOREIGN MOTOR VEHICLES BEING MOVED INTO THIS STATE MAY OPERATE THESE MOTOR VEHICLES WITHOUT DISPLAYING AN OFFICIAL SOUTH CAROLINA LICENSE PLATE.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, requests the Director of the Department of Public Safety to study and make recommendations to the House of Representatives by January 1, 2000, on methods to eliminate the forty-five day grace period in which persons who newly acquire motor vehicles and owners of foreign motor vehicles being moved into this State may operate these motor vehicles without displaying an official South Carolina license plate.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Director of the Department of Public Safety.
