A BILL

TO ENACT THE "STUDENT ACADEMIC SCHEDULE ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 2000" BY ADDING SECTION 59-29-225 TO THE 1976 CODE SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH SCHOOL SEMESTER OR SCHOOL YEAR AS APPLICABLE, THE PRINCIPAL OF EACH PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL MUST ASSIGN TO EACH ENROLLED STUDENT THE COURSE SCHEDULE AND CLASS SCHEDULE THE STUDENT MUST TAKE OR HAS ELECTED THAT SCHOOL SEMESTER OR SCHOOL YEAR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Student Academic Schedule Accountability Act of 2000".

SECTION 2. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-29-225. At the beginning of each school semester or school year as applicable, the principal of each public high school must assign to each enrolled student the course schedule and class schedule the student must take or has elected if electives may be taken that school semester or school year."

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
