A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE ZACHARIAH ERNEST SEYMOUR, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of the Honorable Zachariah Ernest Seymour of Laurens, who died at age fifty-nine on January 25, 2000, at his home; and

Whereas, "Doc" Seymour, as he was affectionately known and referred to by his many friends, was born in Elbert County, Georgia, the son of Olive Burton Seymour of Bowman, Georgia, and the late Horace Wilkes Seymour; and

Whereas, Zachariah Ernest Seymour was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for thirty-three years and owner of the Laurens County Animal Hospital. A successful professional man and active in his community, Dr. Seymour was a member of the Laurens First Baptist Church, the Laurens Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Shrine Club, and a Mason. Dr. Seymour was also a member of the Board of Directors of Hospice of Laurens County; and.

Whereas, Dr. Seymour was well known for his concern for his fellowman and for his compassion when it fell to him to inform families of the death of a loved one. Highly respected for his integrity and professionalism by all who knew him, Dr. Seymour served with distinction as a coroner for Laurens County for twenty-one years and was a former president of the South Carolina Coroners Association; and

Whereas, Dr. Seymour is survived by his wife, Ramona Ponce Seymour of Laurens, two sons, Zachary Gregg Seymour of Anderson and Clint Thurmond Seymour of Columbia, a daughter Lori Lee Seymour of Atlanta, Georgia, two stepdaughters Samantha Christine Robbs and Patricia Elizabeth Robbs, both of Laurens, his mother, Ollie Burton Seymour of Bowman, Georgia, two brothers, Morris Seymour of Meridian, Mississippi, and Kenneth Seymour of Bowman, Georgia, a sister, Jane Seymour Coker of Bowman, Georgia, and two grandchildren, Spencer and Emily Seymour. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express the profound sorrow of the House of Representatives upon the death of the Honorable Zachariah Ernest Seymour, and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Ramona Ponce Seymour, of Laurens.
