A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE MR. HENDERSON JOHNSON OF AIKEN COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO AIKEN COUNTY AND FOR BEING NAMED THE AIKEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MAN OF THE YEAR FOR 1998.

Whereas, Mr. Henderson Johnson of Aiken County was named the Aiken Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year for 1998; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson was born, raised, and has lived all of his life in Aiken County and was brought up to give "something back" to his community, which indeed he has; and

Whereas, he began coaching pony league in 1955 and in the 1960's took his first of five teams to the World Series. He has been inducted into the Aiken County Sports Hall of Fame and was named Citizen of the Year in 1969 for his baseball coaching work; and

Whereas, his many contributions as leader and mentor have included working with the Aiken County Open Land Trust, the Marine Corps League, the American Cancer Society, the Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center, and the First Baptist Church; and

Whereas, in addition to providing practical, moral, and spiritual guidance and leadership in his community, Mr. Johnson is a successful criminal lawyer, loving husband, and devoted father; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are hereby pleased to have the opportunity to recognize such an outstanding community leader, prominent attorney, devoted husband and father, and remarkable man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate hereby recognize Mr. Henderson Johnson of Aiken County for his outstanding leadership and contributions to Aiken County and for being named the Aiken Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year for 1998.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Henderson Johnson.
