TO RECOGNIZE, COMMEND, HONOR, AND EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO CHESTER E. SANSBURY FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, PERSONAL SACRIFICE, AND SPECIAL ROLE HE HAS PLAYED ON BEHALF OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND IN THE LIVES OF ALL SOUTH CAROLINIANS, UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM SERVICE WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL, AND TO WISH HIM A RETIREMENT THAT IS EQUALLY REWARDING AND BENEFICIAL TO HIM AND THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE.
Whereas, Chester E. Sansbury is bringing to a close his thirty-five years and twenty-five days of public service; and
Whereas, he has been a dedicated and distinguished public servant for all of these years; and
Whereas, Chester E. Sansbury received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in biology from the University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Chester E. Sansbury served his country for twenty-seven and a half years in the United States Air Force, active and reserve, retiring in 1992 as a full colonel; and
Whereas, Chester E. Sansbury dedicated his professional career, abilities, and scientific expertise to the betterment of South Carolina's environment and natural resources, first with the Belle W. Baruch Institute, then as a teaching assistant with the University of South Carolina, and, lastly, rising to one of the highest management positions with DHEC's Office of Environmental Control; and
Whereas, throughout his career, he ably represented the Department of Health and Environmental Control on many difficult and important committees, task forces, and councils; nationally he represented the State of South Carolina on issues of state, regional, national, and international importance; and
Whereas, through his involvement in national, state and local issues he maintained his desire to be a professional who could make a difference in the lives of his neighbors and his State. Now, therefore
Be it resolved the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives recognize, commend, honor, and express their gratitude to Chester E. Sansbury for his years of dedicated service, personal sacrifice, and the special role he has played in bettering the environment and the lives of all South Carolinians and wish him a retirement that is equally rewarding and beneficial to him and the citizens of the State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chester E. Sansbury and his family.
