TO AMEND ARTICLE 11, CHAPTER 5, TITLE 50, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO SHRIMP, BY ADDING SECTION 50-5-1110, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2002, WHEN TAKING SHRIMP OVER BAIT NO CAST NET MAY BE USED HAVING A MESH SIZE SMALLER THAN ONE-HALF INCH SQUARE MEASURE OR ONE INCH STRETCH MEASURE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 11, Chapter 5, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-5-1110. Effective July 1, 2002, when taking shrimp over bait no cast net may be used having a mesh size smaller than one-half inch square measure or one inch stretch measure."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
