EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF HERMAN CHARLES SHEALY, SR., OF MCCORMICK AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mr. Herman Charles Shealy, Sr., of McCormick died February 9, 1999, at the age of seventy; and
Whereas, he lived a full life of devotion to his family and service to the community and the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mr. Shealy was a model highway patrolman and public servant; he carried out his duties with excellence and contributed generously of his time, talents, energy, and resources; he was respected, admired, and loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed; and
Whereas, Mr. Shealy retired as a sergeant from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after serving from 1948 to 1978; and
Whereas, following his retirement from the highway patrol, he operated Shealy Motor Company in McCormick for twenty years; and
Whereas, Mr. Shealy was an esteemed member of the South Carolina Highway Commission serving as commissioner from 1990 through 1994; and
Whereas, his service to his community includes serving on the McCormick Town Council, serving as a member and chairman of the McCormick Transportation Committee, and serving as an exemplary role model and mentor as a Scoutmaster; and
Whereas, he was a loving husband to Lorraine Counts Shealy and devoted father to his son and two daughters; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate wish to express to Mr. Shealy's family and many friends that they are uppermost in their thoughts and have the Senate's deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express sorrow at the death of Herman Charles Shealy, Sr., of McCormick and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Herman Charles Shealy, Sr.
