A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-11-425 SO AS TO EXEMPT THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FROM THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 11, TITLE 40, REQUIRING LICENSURE TO PERFORM CERTAIN GENERAL AND MECHANICAL CONTRACTING WORK, IF ALL LABOR IS SUPPLIED BY THE AGENCY'S OWN FORCES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 40-11-425. This chapter does not apply to the Department of Corrections on construction projects performed by the department if all labor is supplied by the department's own forces."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
